How do I use my eye drops following surgery?

Vigamox (antibiotic, tan label) should be instilled four times a day.
Omnipred/Predforte (steroid, pink label) should be instilled four times a day until the doctors initiates your taper schedule.  Note: Please shake this drop for 20 seconds prior to instillation.
Cyclopentolate (dilation, red label) should be instilled twice a day until otherwise noted.

Where can I rent/purchase a positioning chair?

We recommend renting a chair from Retinal Recovery.  You can contact them at           (318) 205-8322.  They will bring your chair to the hospital on the day of your surgery and you may return it directly to our office at your post op visit.

How long do I have to position after surgery?

You will need to maintain your positioning for one to two weeks after surgery.  While the bubble is in place, it is important to stay at home, remain inactive, and maintain the position prescribed to you by your doctor.  Do NOT travel by plane until cleared by your doctor.

What are my restrictions after surgery?

We ask that you do NOT perform the following activities:

• Driving
• Jogging
• Heavy housework
• Lifting anything over 5 pounds
• Bending and or stooping
• Strenuous exercise

Note:  If you have had a gas bubble placed within your eye you should NOT fly under any circumstance until released to do so by your doctor.

My eye is red and irritated after receiving an intravitreal injection, what should I do?

There may be a small amount of irritation to the surface of your eye following an intravitreal injection.  We ask that you instill artificial tears 4-6 times a day for relief.  If your symptoms worsen or do not subside please call our office immediately.

My eye has a red spot of blood overlying the white part of my eye, what should I do?

This is a ruptured blood vessel termed a subconjunctival hemorrhage.  It looks worse than it actually is and can be treated with instillation of artificial tear four times a day for one to two weeks.

My Amsler Grid has changes, what should I do?

If you see any changes in your Amsler Grid please call our office immediately.

I have flashes of light and an increase in floaters, what should I do?

If you are experiencing flashing of light and an increase in floaters please call our office immediately.

How often can I use artificial tears?

Artificial tears can be instilled six to eight times per day.  If you need to instill drops more frequently than this please use preservative free artificial tears.

What eye vitamins should I take?

We recommend you implement an AREDS 2 formula nutritional supplement.
